Parade of Lights a Success!!
Monday, December 3rd, 2007On December 3rd, despite the bitter cold temperatures, the citizen’s of Faith gathered together to celebrate the holiday season. At 5 pm, the street lights were extinguished and the festivities began. With eleven entries, the parade was very colorful and full of lights. I heard several positive comments on how glad that the holiday parade has returned to Faith. The idea to bring the parade back to Faith was the Faith Ambulance committee. The most talked about entry would have had to be the City of Faith’s “Sue” entry. Very nice! After the parade, the Horizon’s committee held a social at the Legion Hall. Snacks, cookies, bars, and lots of other treats along with apple cider and hot chocolate warmed approximately 88 people including a special appearance by Santa. Most of the treats were provided by Faith businesses.
Paul Peterson, a Horizon’s member gave the audience an overview of the new strategic plan that the Horizon’s committee developed. Nancy Reimer gave a short presentation about the community blog and invited the community to send items to post, comment on the current posts, and basically use the blog as a unified community bulletin board.
The prizes for the floats and door prizes were also presented at this time by Deb Brown and Shawn Peterson. The presentation concluded with an invitation to the audience to volunteer to help on the current projects that the Horizon’s team is working on. In other words, the social was a huge success!!!
